Abstract

|
Lateral medullary infarction can be accompanied by sympathetic dysfunction. We report a case of unilateral paroxysmal and periodic rhinorrhea that developed after an ischemic stroke in the ipsilateral lateral medulla. Paroxysmal rhinorrhea in this case might be mediated by reactive hypersensitivity of parasympathetic system after sympathetic denervation caused by lateral medullary infarction.
